Great Experience at Hadsten House - TravelBug0817, Los Angeles, May 2, 2008
My husband and I stayed there last weekend with another couple and had a great time.

The location is perfect - the staff are professional and extremely courteous - the rooms spacious and well-appointed. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The first night we got there, after checking in, we walked down to the Tastes of the Valley wine bar and had a drink from their selection. We then walked back to the hotel and enjoyed the Jacuzzi. The next day we walked to Paula's Pancake House - a must if staying in Solvang! Then we checked out several amazing wineries in Los Olivos.

Dinner at The Hitching Post is always a treat, then back to the hotel for relaxing the Jacuzzi -- again. This outdoor spa area is amazing - there are two seating areas next to an outdoor fireplace, and the spa is spacious enough for several people.

Sophisticated Choice in Solvang, Eversincethen, Los Angeles, March 23, 2008
Not only were the rooms clean, fresh and cozy, but the location couldn't be better. You can walk from this hotel to all that Solvang has to offer, and since much of that is wine-related, that makes a huge difference. We walked to breakfast in the morning, to the shops, etc. There's even a little market next door.

Both of our rooms had fireplaces (they're the kind that turn on with a switch, not truly wood-burning, but still, very charming), and the l'Occitane products in the bathrooms are a lovely touch.

The restaurant was also beautiful, with food so good that we ate there both nights. The Jacuzzi is huge... Overall, I'd highly recommend it.

Fabulous Hotel and AMAZING restaurant!!, winebride, Orange Cty, CA, Feb 19, 08
I Wanted to write a review to share how much I loved this hotel. The service is so great and the owner did such an amazing job on the decor. I have to say that the restaurant is absolutely amazing here. You walk in and feel like you stepped in to the Pottery Barn. It feels so much like home...

Nice Surprise, Good Location, air44bg, West Hills, CA, Feb 17, 2008
I read a lot of reviews about this place, and because the price was a bit higher than what I normally pay, I wanted to be sure about it. We've been to Solvang many times, but never spent the night. The Hadsten House is the first place you come to as you enter Solvang.

Excellent!, latravelmomm, Los Angeles, CA, Feb 16, 2008
Great location in Solvang. The owners have done a fantastic remodel; amazing attention to even the smallest details. We took our two boys, ages 5 and 7, and they loved the indoor pool--immaculate, perfect temp, so clean! Room was comfy, great beds--family friendly and can't wait to get back! Mike at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

Romantic Birthday Note & “#10” Perfect Stay!, June 2008
Thank you so much for our wonderful stay with the Hadsten House. My husband and I stayed for one night on Sunday, June 1st. It was a 50th Birthday stay and we had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant and the Inn helped me surprise him with a bottle of chilled champagne in our room when we returned from our meal.

Activities - click hereThere was a wonderful note saying Happy 50th attached and he loved it! It was all wonderful. We were actually on our way home from a trip in Sonoma at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa where our room was $750 /night. They have a 4 Star restaurant and Spa and my husbands comments to me were that the restaurant at Hadsten House was equally as good with better portions and that the Jacuzzi was much better than any of the 3 mineral spas at the Fairmont!

And, as an Interior Designer with my own company, I thought the decor at Hadsten House was perfect! Chic and modern but timeless incorporating a flair for unique antique styling with just enough French /Dutch mix to fit right into Solvang. A “10” all the way around. No need to go to all the way to Napa or Sonoma for style and spa treatments any more!

Hadsten House in Solvang–Recline, Dine & Enjoy the Spa, 05/07/08, by tish

Our Solvang accommodations could not have been better. We chose the Hadsten House Inn and Spa right on the main street of Solvang. A perfect location for walking around town, the inn was also a terrific choice for beautiful accommodations and dining.

typical King room x345wYou’ve got to check out its Web site and see what I mean about luxurious room accommodations! And I would highly recommend its brand new spa — the Haven Day Spa — that offered a terrific range of services. Ginny and I indulged ourselves in the 75-minute massage! Probably the best massage treatment I’ve ever had!

Seriously. Now I’ve got to add that the Hadsten House has a chic little dining room and comfortable lounge. We dined there two nights and enjoyed excellent appetizers one evening and a great meal and wine service another night. Plus Hadsten House treats its guests with a complimentary appetizer and glass of wine each evening! How pleasant is that to start your evening!! Oh yes, I forgot to mention — complimentary breakfast, too!

We spent many hours strolling up and down Solvang’s village streets and walkways, stopping in many of the 200 shops around town. Only one or two had “souvenirs,” the rest offered unique, beautiful and well made clothing, home décor items, imported pieces, artwork and wine tastings. This is definitely the town to shop for those on your Christmas gift list!

cristinatI could go on and on about every aspect of this boutique hotel. First, go to the spa, and get a facial with Andreea (what a talented cutie!) or deep tissue massage with Rich. Next, have a drink and everything on the menu in their restaurant, which by the way will require a reservation because its upscale relaxing decor is beginning to attract every local in the area. Jerry in the kitchen is one of the most talented chefs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting- the muscles, lobster bisque and even the brie plate are perfect to begin your meal. Garlic mashed potatoes and green beans melt in your mouth. If you can, save room for dessert. Afterwards, relax by the indoor pool, or go up to your newly decorated room, with plush bedding and a flat screen tv. What a fabulous getaway gem!

davidbStopped in for dinner last night. Atmosphere was shockingly hip. ...I loved it!!! Wonderful change.. kudos to Solvang. My petite fillet was delicious. My wife had the pesto raviolis and they were good but very rich. I love a great Syrah but opted for Pinot which was fantastic. The service was a bit weak but it could just have been an off night... I'll definitely be back.

I love thisplace. It's quaint and comfy. It has that French Country charm but with modern day amenities (faux fireplace, plasma TV, and free WiFi). The beds were awesome, especially after a long drive.

We're big fans of luxury soop products and were extremely happy to see that they use them as their soaps, shampoos, conditioner, loofas, shower gels, and lotions.

They also offered us vouchers for a continental breakfast from Olsen's Danish Bakery AND vouchers for a glass of wine and appetizer from their restaurant (per person and night that you stay). The service at the restaurant is a bit slow; so make sure you get their attention if you need anything. Otherwise you'll be waiting forever for service.

The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. If you'll be wine tasting in the area, tell the front desk and they may have 2 for 1 tasting coupons to ones you're planning on visiting. I will definitely stay here again!

Lobbyw345If you are going to the beautiful region of Santa Ynez, there is no other place to stay! I scoped out this property a little on the internet before booking, and expected a nice, clean and comfortable property. From the moment I walked through the guest lobby, I felt like I was in a five star hotel.

The front desk crew were fantastic! I mentioned to the front desk, my partner and I were in town to do some wine tasting, and mentioned wineries we were planning on visiting. They not only immediately offered several wine coupons, they gave excellent directions and were professional, gracious and ultra friendly.

typical King room x345wNow for the room...WOW!!! If I didn't already have activities planned for that day, I would have been content to spend my day luxuriating in that phenomenal room. We opted for the room with the jacuzzi tub...so worth it after a day of winetasting...two flat screen tvs...top notch complimentary toiletries...recessed lighting...the list goes on. When I initially booked the room they were offering a dinner package.

They just opened their dining room, and are trying to spread the word. Well....I'm here to spread the word....GO! I had the halibut...melt in your mouth tender and flavorful, my partner had the filet mignon. She allowed me a little taste as it was almost too good to share...probably the best piece of meat I have ever eaten! The sausage stuffed portobello mushrooms appetizers sent me to the moon. I have to make special mention of Thomas....the bartender and server. He took excellent care of us, and his personal and attentive service confirmed my certain return to this restaurant for future dining.

They are opening a full service spa soon, so I'm hoping the room rates don't increase due to the addition. After my little taste of world class service and luxury at Hadsten House, staying anyplace else in town just would not do!

Ok, wow. It appears that I am the first to review the restaurant here at this new little Solvang hotspot and I have already been raving. Loudly. Everywhere.

restaurant w345The restaurant serves, hands down, the best food in the loveliest restaurant with the finest service anywhere in the Santa Ynez Valley. That's a tall order but I speak the truth.

Food - wine country cuisine but with a twist. Better sauces. More interesting flavors. Spectacular presentation. Phenomenal first courses. The warm bacon spinach salad will ruin you for other salads. It's just not normal. It's life changing. The lobster bisque, with its tangy sherry-cream, is capped with a flaky bread crust that you have to break through to get to the fragrant soup. The filet, my God, the filet. I thought I had tasted filet mignon every way that it could be done but this one practically had me crying. The wine list is good - could use more local representation. I cannot speak of the desserts. I barely touched my chocolate torte for fear of losing the exquisite taste of the meal.  Word on the street is that they wooed the chefs away from the Casino's Willow's Restaurant which, along with the Petersen Inn, tied for first in my opinion prior to the Hampsted House's arrival on the scene.

Ambiance - Santa Ynez Valley's new wine crowd meets New York City. We've never seen anything quite like this place around here. Sophisticated, dark ornamental wood decor with swanky black and white modern details. Service staff in head to toe black attire. Stemless Riedel glassware. Fine service pieces. Roaring fireplace. A bar that puts you in mind of a funky little martini lounge - they didn't get their mixed beverage license this year so can only serve beer and wine. They are hoping for 2008. Washroom amenites are excellent, a detail that most restaurants overlook in my opinion. A small intimate romantic restaurant altogether and definitely an excuse to wear that little black dress that never makes an appearance in casual Solvang proper.

Pricing is reasonable, comparable to Mattei's tavern and the Hitching Post. Appetizers and desserts are inordinately low priced with the pricing that you would typically expect on your entree and wine.

If visitors and locals do not embrace this restaurant like they have Grappolo and Aru, there is something wrong with this town and I'm moving back to civilization.

OK, I may not be the first to write a review for this inn, but I will certainly be the first to write a 5-star review :)

It is clear this has been another type of property before. But after an extensive renovation, the rooms here are SWEET! No smell whatsoever (which is unfortunately rare... and I HATE stinky hotel rooms!). Nice new carpets, lovely paint jobs on the walls, crown mouldings, plantation shutters on the aluminium windows (which makes the room feel somehow upscale), very well thought-out lighting, a modern bathroom that separates the toilet and shower/bath tub with a sliding mirror door; tasteful pieces of furniture + a great hardwood floor- yes, in the bathroom! A firm queen size bed makes me feel so comfortable while writing this. Purr. The fake fireplace is my least favorite detail but it does the job well. Especially tonight, since the local weather is foggy, misty, kind of moody... quite European even... :) just typical for the season, I'd say.

In addition to all the goodies this hotel offers (for around $145 per night), every room is now equiped with a brand new 32 inch LCD-TV by Dell + a Samsung Up-Converting DVD player... the same one I happen to have at home... This unit plays even older more pixellated DVD movies in a very good quality, which I believe is achieved through special interpolation technology. Anyway, a very high-tech touch that I am sure the hotel's younger visitors will appreciate.

Exceptional hotel - just recently renovated, with decoration in immaculate condition.
Beds are very comfortable, and state of the art televisions. A very friendly staff provided the icing on the cake!
